Sharing the result (or creating a free account) additionally reveals the navamsha, the D9 chart consulted for marriage. ## How much your birth time matters The lagna is the most time-sensitive number in a kundli: it changes sign about every two hours, and a shift of minutes can move a planet across a house boundary. Your Moon sign is far more forgiving, since the Moon needs over two days to cross a rashi -- but its nakshatra pada can flip within hours. The pada matters more than it looks, because the Vimshottari count begins from the Moon's exact position within its nakshatra; an uncertain birth time therefore drags dasha start and end dates with it. If all you know is "morning" or "around eight", still run the chart -- the rashi and the sign placements will hold. Treat the lagna and the dasha boundaries as provisional until the time is confirmed. ## Our method, and what happens to your details Charts here use the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa -- the reference standard of Indian panchangs -- and planetary longitudes from a high-precision ephemeris. Enter your best estimate: the Moon sign comes out correct in the great majority of such charts, and planet-in-sign placements barely move within a day. Read the ascendant and the dasha dates as approximate, and if you have a two-hour window, try both ends to see whether the lagna changes. Why do my placements differ from another app or an old paper kundli? Almost always the ayanamsa. We use Lahiri; software set to Raman, KP, or a Western tropical zodiac will shift some placements by a whole sign. Differences in house system and in the recorded birth time explain most of the rest.
