## How planet mantras are used

### One beej mantra per graha

The Navagraha tradition assigns each of the nine planets a beej (seed) mantra -- a short Sanskrit formula built around syllables held to carry that planet's vibration, like "Om shram shreem shraum sah chandraya namah" for the Moon. Which mantra you take up is a chart question, not a menu choice: the usual candidates are the lord of your current mahadasha, a planet the dosha checker flags as afflicted, or the graha ruling the life area you are working on.

### Day, count, and pronunciation

Each graha has its weekday -- Sun on Sunday, Moon on Monday, Mars on Tuesday, Mercury on Wednesday, Jupiter on Thursday, Venus on Friday, Saturn on Saturday, with Rahu traditionally joined to Saturday and Ketu to Tuesday. Practice is counted in malas of 108 repetitions, and beginning on the planet's own day is the convention this hub's live "today" card is computed for.

Pronunciation deserves real care, because the beej syllables are the substance of the practice. Start slowly, listen to a reliable recitation until the sounds settle, and only then build speed. A quiet daily 108 kept up for weeks does more than an occasional marathon session.

### Where these texts come from

The mantras on these pages are the standard Navagraha beej forms used across mainstream Indian practice, and each planet's day, deity, and significations follow the classical karaka scheme set out in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and repeated in later remedial manuals. Where lineages genuinely differ -- grand-total counts, for instance, range from 7,000 repetitions for the Sun to 23,000 for Saturn -- the pages say so instead of presenting one custom as law. Everything here is free to practice: no purchase, initiation fee, or "energized" product is required.

## Mantra FAQs

Do I need perfect Sanskrit to chant?

You need care, not perfection. Learn the mantra from a reliable recitation, keep the pace slow until the syllables are stable, and correct yourself as you go. A sincere, slightly imperfect daily practice is traditionally valued far above a flawless one that never happens.

How many repetitions are required?

One mala -- 108 repetitions -- is the working unit, and a daily mala is a complete practice by itself. The large lineage totals (7,000 to 23,000 depending on the planet) are frameworks for structuring an intensive discipline, not entry fees; consistency over weeks matters more than any single number.

Which planet's mantra should I start with?

Let your chart decide: the lord of your running mahadasha or a planet flagged as weak or afflicted are the classical starting points. If you have not computed your chart yet, chanting the mantra of the day's ruling planet is a harmless, traditional way to begin while you find out.

## Not sure which planet needs support?

Compute your real birth chart to see which planets are weak, afflicted, or already strong, then choose the mantra that actually matches your chart.
